Fantastic iron!

Incomplete Swahili. It has it's merits but not what I was looking for.

I bought complete Swahili to extend my knowledge of Swahili. I like that I can learn the correct grammar. I like that it explains singular and plural. Unfortunately, I am familiar with basic kiswahili and I am finding that a lot if words that I know and use, are different in the book. I have used some of these words which were unfamiliar to me. I am told by Kenyans, that's not how we say it or, that's not the word we use. It could be that as I have learnt my Swahili from one area, I have learnt the coastal way of speaking Swahili. However, I would not use some of the words in the book as I know in the area where I stay, they are not used. I have used, many years ago, a basic Swahili book which listed words in English to Swahili. It also interpreted short sentences e.g. How much, can I have, where is? I found this adequate if you were going on holiday. I am a little disappointed in complete Swahili. I am not sure if I will speak fluently after completing it! I will give it my best, but as I have not studied it much since I got it, I should reserve judgement! I am sure a complete learner would find this book helpful. I am not sure that if they used the all the given words, they would be understood. I guess they may be understood, but they would be corrected by a Kenyan on some words. Good luck to anyone buying this book and learning Swahili. I am sure it will be helpfull. I am asked would I recommend this product to a friend. My answer is no,. My reason for this is twofold, I do not find it an easy way to learn and I reiterate, some of the words are completely different when using the spoken word to a Kenyan. I refer to Kenya as that is the only place where I need to speak Swahili.
