Good item at a good price
I was very happy with this item. It seems to be made well, has good weight and is easily gripped. Several reviews I read before purchasing it said that the cartridge doesn't pivot on it, which was disappointing to know but not a deal-breaker. This seemed to be the case with mine as well at first but as I examined it to see why it didn't pivot, it suddenly started to work. I'm not sure why that wasn't immediately the case. It's as though it was just initially stiff and loosened up a bit after being worked a little. Nevertheless, it seems to operate fine now. All in all, I'm quite pleased to have this and will probably purchase some additional ones eventually to have spares. I doubt that the ones Gillette makes today are as beefy as this one. And the less money I have to give to them for their absurdly overpriced wares, the better. Thanks for making this available to us.

Very hard to find now
1 of 1 found this helpful Pentel has permanently discontinued the classic Z2-1 eraser. What they make now, the Z2-1N eraser, fits the same pencils but is approximately half the length of the Z2-1. The very first time you push a Z2-1N even a little way up the metal sleeve (necessary as the tip wears), it becomes slightly unsupported at the bottom, and this only gets worse with each adjustment. The Z2-1, being roughly twice as long, could be extended many times while still being fully supported by the entire length of the sleeve. This made for a much more stable product, not to mention lasting significantly longer. If possible (and it was at the time of this writing), buy an entire box of twelve tubes, as the per-tube price will be much lower. Devotees of the Pentel pencils which use these erasers should buy the Z2-1s while you can, as you'll probably be severely disappointed by the new -- but definitely *not* improved -- Z2-1N. Pentel should be ashamed of themselves for their decision to worsen one of their oldest and best products.
