Not easy to fit, but does the job
It's a replacement part, and we needed it because we somhow managed to lose the original. It wasn't easy to fit, as it requires a lot of physical strength to slot it into place, but once that is done, it fits securely and does the job.

Gripping and convincing
The "detective" is a credible, fallible human being, not a superwoman. The story is gripping, unpredictable and convincing.
The author is a journalist, not an academic, but she vividly captures the atmosphere of universities at the time. (I was there.) I assume she also portrays the journalism of the time accurately - it's not such a pretty picture A 'period piece' in the best sense.
