Love/Hate relationship!

I ordered this upon recommendation from a member of the American Mountain Men (AMM). I have the Tomkins book that I have been learning from. This book is much more intense, yo say the least. Not one drawn design in it as a description guide, HOWEVER, saying that, it is extremely descriptive with the written word and it guides the student on how to form sentences using sign. It would be an excellent book if one had a partner to practice with as it would be easier to visualize the sentence structures. Personally, I go back and forth on my opinion of this book. It can be a true love/hate relationship! I just wish I was younger as my mind might absorb the information presented better.

Definitely different perspective of the word “large”.

This is of course MY opinion, others will vary I am sure. I was excited to see these advertised with the availability of colors AND THE FACT THEY WERE ADVERTISED AS LARGE NORTHERN BUCKTAILS! I figured that since I was ordering them just a couple months after most deer seasons were finished thst I would get some very nice long haired tails. Pretty disappointed when I opened up the order. Majority of the white hairs that are what was dyed and what I use for my projects have a length of 1.5 to 2 inches. That is what I usually got late summer or early fall - what I considered “dredges” instead of “ cream “. The large northern bucktails that I normally receive always have tail hair at LEAST 3 inches in length or longer. ( not from this company as this was my first time order from this manufacturer) The yearling deer I harvested this year has longer hair on its tail than the majority of these. Now, in the defense of the manufacturer, it may be a matter of written semantics. Their description of large may be due to the overall length of the tail itself. These are long and has good hair coverage. I was ““assuming” - and we know what that means- it was describing hair length. There’s plenty of hair to use for fly tying and I’m sure the length will be very efficient for that. My projects just require longer hair length. Next time I will inquire about hair length before I order from photos.
