The best GS 38 Voltage indicator at the moment
1 of 1 found this helpful This is an excellent light weight voltage indicator with well designed probes that can quickly be altered to gain access to the deeper tunnel type terminals. I especially like the way you can store away the insulated tips without losing them. Another useful bit is that you can screw on large uninsulated tips on to the probes to convert them into standard Banana type tips, this means that you can push one probe into a standard crocodile clip and clamp it to earth and use the other probe on say a row of din rail connectors when fault finding. Another useful trick is to be able to quickly and safely test for phase rotation saving me having to carry a three wire disc rotation device along with all of my other test gear.
I am fortunate enough to have accurate charts and drawings where I work, so I always know the circuit origin and its method of protection where I work but the other day I was called to an unfamiliar property and was asked to isolate a couple of circuits during some alterations, unfortunately their records of this property where non existent. However I was able to identify the circuits origin by simply using the High current tripping mode to identify the Rcbo's.
All in all a great tester and good value for money and if it lasts as long as my T5 500 that I bought in 1997/8 I will be well pleased

Makita saw blade
2 of 2 found this helpful A Genuine Oem metal cutting saw blade by Makita. This blade works extremely well on metals up to about 1.5 mm thick. I am an electrician and I have to cut tray unistrut and trunking on a daily basis, and this blade goes through them without hesitation and leaves very little burr. It will even cut 10mm rod if you are careful without the need to clean them up to thread the nuts on. I tried to cut Paxolin (compressed resin laminate) and although it cut it and left a very good clean straight cut. I did notice that it had taken the edge off the blade. Paxolin aside these blades last well and do not create a shower of sparks therefore on most sites it is not necessary to get a hot works permit.
The only down side is that prices vary a great deal for the same item and some catalogue type trade counters list them at literally twice the price of many of the on line suppliers, so it is worth shopping around
Take a tip from me use a wood blade for paxolin they are a lot cheaper and work better and don't kill your metal blade

Fluke GS38 Approved voltage Indicator
This is an excellent Voltage indicator and has many features that I like. I bought it to replace my old machine that unfortunately got run over on my last site. This unit is very user friendly and unlike my old model does not require you to select a test range. I particularly like the LED light and the phase rotation function this save time carrying additional equipment
