GOOD BUY
Repeat purchase, we bought the original Chromecast a year or so ago, and have been delighted with it. This one was bought for a second TV at the other end of the house, but we had to buy the extension in addition as there are too many solid walls between the wifi and the Chromecast unit.
Allows access to numerous films (surprising number were high-quality) on YouTube, and catch-up television, with nothing more to pay. If you watch BBC's iPlayer, though, be aware that you will need a licence after 1.9.16, even though watching catch-up TV has been exempt from licence requirement up until now, because it is not 'TV programming at time of broadcast'. Commercial TV's catch-up does not require a licence or any payment at time of writing, but of course it is paid for by advertising.
You can also cast downloaded films from your tablet or smartphone to the TV using this handy little gadget.
Very reasonable price, particularly as we bought a unit in a 'damaged box'; nothing wrong with the item at all.

BETTER THAN PYREX ...?
1 of 1 found this helpful We'll see. My mother bought me a 2-litre Pyrex jug a few years ago, I use it often, far more than I might have expected. I recently thought it would be a good idea to buy another; however, they are now hugely expensive (one was £36!), and then I found this Anchor Hocking at a very reasonable price, post-free.
The glass is thicker than the Pyrex, and has a strong, substantial feel. It is heavy, though, and fully loaded with liquid, it could be a little unwieldy. It has a handle, rather than the Pyrex open hook; the handle might be a little less convenient than the hook, but at least you know you have a firm hold if you are picking up a full and heavy jug. On the other hand, if the jug is as hot as its contents, it is easier to hold an open hook with an oven glove.
One thing I have noticed about my smaller and ageing Pyrex jugs is that repeated washing in the dishwasher has all but removed the traditional red quantity markings, leaving illegible opaque lines and partial figures. Of course, it may be that Pyrex assumes that you will break the jug long before the markings wear off!
That won't happen with the Anchor Hocking, its markings are embossed and cannot deteriorate in the dishwasher, so that's a big plus if you manage to keep your jug intact for as long as I've kept my Pyrex.
One slight reservation is that comment is made about not subjecting the Anchor Hocking to dramatic changes in temperature (eg, freezer to oven). This sounds like simple common sense, but I do remember once accidentally putting a Pyrex glass casserole lid down on a wet worktop, where it promptly exploded all over the kitchen. Would the Anchor Hocking have survived? I doubt it, so I would suggest that you just follow the sensible instructions for care of any toughened glass.
From what I have read, though, Anchor Hocking's glass is different from Pyrex in its manufacture and composition, and may be less forgiving. Does it matter? I don't know yet, but I do like the heavier feel of the Anchor Hocking, the price is certainly attractive - and if I do break it, even after taking great care with it, I can buy three for the price of one Pyrex.
I've tried to give pros and cons for this product to help you decide whether to buy it.
For myself, I would definitely buy another Anchor Hocking.

Neil Diamond - 12 Songs (Digipak - CD 2006)
1 of 1 found this helpful In 1972, at 16, I was dragged by my then boyfriend, kicking and screaming, to a Neil Diamond concert. We went with friends, and I was mortified at the thought that someone else might see me there.
I resigned myself just to getting through the evening, but within two songs, I was electrified by the atmosphere. By the end of the evening, along with everyone else, I was almost tearful at the powerful and emotional rendition of 'I am, I said'.
That was a long time ago, and although I still have my vinyl somewhere, and I have even bought a couple of remastered CDs, I thought my musical tastes had moved on. Certainly, I permit myself a nostalgic smile when 'Cracklin' Rosie' is played on the radio, but for me Neil Diamond was left behind in my teenage years, along with the crushed velvet flares.
I heard a track or two of '12 Songs' featured on a radio programme, and did not take much notice, but when I heard the same tracks again, and a couple more, I found that they got under my skin.
Since buying this CD, it has not been out of my car. For those of you expecting the old Neil Diamond style, well, it still gleams through, but this is also fresh and original. The melodies have hooks, but the words have barbs.
This is an era of highlighted spiky hair, impressive six-packs and waxed chests. Unlined, vacuous faces mime recycled lyrics. Watch them, and you will see them shaking their heads in mild disbelief at the crassness of it all.
Neil Diamond has lived, and it is reflected in this music. For those of the rest of us who have also been around the block in the intervening years, it has meaning and depth. It is grown-up music.
Buy it.
