WORKS OF GENIUS FOR ANY LITERARY AGE
A total genius in any language. A "master" of style, drawing you into the scene with every detail come alive! A free spirit and working woman in full independence. No reader can be said to be well-read who has not read and adored Colette!! -- Jane Barnes

STORIES FROM 1900 TO 1946, SOME ONLY PUBLISHED IN 1972--600 PAGES, AND WORTH EVERY SYLLABLE!
Heavenly, elegant, perceptive and honest prose by a master (yeah, I know) of fiction. Each reading is like going to the best of films, as she evokes such vivid and detailed scenes and characters. She tells what animals are thinking, what flowers there are, what the weather exactly is, and of the gestures that humans make that often tell more than mere dialog, though she's fabulous at this too. Master of the simile, the metaphor, and changes in tone (from formal to slang to side remarks, to whispers to the audience, comments about the process of writing...they're all there, rooted in time and place, in the eyes, the nostrils, the feet, the hands... I'm on her 30th book and still can't get enough. And to think she wasn't sure she was a writer!!! Irony of the last 400 years.
