Excellent batteries for certain uses
Being rechargeable they are 1.2V not 1.5V. When you know that you can use them in places where current is more significant than voltage. This is what they excel at. I use them in photography equipment such as flash guns where the current from the NiMH battery is used to charge a capacitor to a high voltage for generating the flash. They also work well in cameras which are designed for AA sized batteries.
These rechargeable batteries hold their charge for a long time e.g. a year. I suggest they be topped-up with a refresher charge before use if they have been left unused for a year, but fine to use if left a few months after being charged. These do not need to be fully discharged, they can be used a bit then given a top-up charge.
These batteries can be used in appliances that need 1.5V but won't appear to last as long. That is 'by design' and not a fault because these batteries are designed to have a lower voltage so the appliance they are used in may think they are 1.5V batteries that have been discharged.
If you use these batteries in a torch, the light will be less bright than when you use 1.5V batteries, but it will last just as long at the lower brightness. This is 'by design' because the voltage is lower.
So in summary: Great 1.2V batteries which are ideal for certain uses such as camera flash guns. You must not expect them to perform the same as 1.5V AA alkaline batteries in all types of appliances. Using rechargeable batteries like these instead of throw-away alkaline batteries, where possible, is better for the planet.
