    Chilton Books 28600 Repair Manual
    02 May, 2018
Great Repair Manual for early Firebirds!
I am doing extensive work on a friend’s 1967 Pontiac Firebird 400, including a complete engine overhaul/upgrade and swapping in a TH-400 auto transmission for the non-original Muncie 4-speed manual trans, among other things throughout the car. He gave me a copy of the original 1967 Pontiac Service Manual and 1967 Firebird Service Manual Supplement. While it is nice to have those original manuals for reference, their value is actually limited by certain factors. The 1967 Firebird Supplement is very limited in what it covers, forcing me to go to the 1967 Pontiac Service Manual, which covers all Pontiac models (except Firebird due to its mid-year introduction) for 1967. It is not always clear what applies to the Firebird and what applies to other models. In addition, the manuals refer to the use of many special tools and the procedures are written for GM/Pontiac dealer repair shops in 1967. In contrast, this Chilton GM/Firebird 1967-81 Repair Manual is written for modern enthusiasts who like to work on their own cars. There is a wealth of info in this manual that is organized better than the factory manuals, and it recommends modern alternatives to outdated dealer special tools and maintenance procedures, with an impressive amount of detail. While it is true that this Chilton Manual covers a lot of years (1967-81), the different model year ranges are chronologically ordered with a good amount of detail and plenty of pictures to help keep everything straight. I also like the fact that this manual covers a lot of years so I will be ready for whatever Firebird (up through 1981) I work on next! And for those rare instances when what you need to know is not in this Chilton Manual, you can also refer back to the Pontiac Service Manuals. That is why I recommend getting both, but if you can afford only one, then get this Chilton GM/Firebird 1967-81 Repair Manual. You won't be disappointed!

Excellent quality, very handy for troubleshooting circuits
When I received these and opened up the package, my first thought was that they are excellent quality. They are also very handy for troubleshooting car circuits, especially when you are trying to find a battery drain. Makes short work of that process along with a good multimeter that can read up to 10A. Check them out!
MEGUIAR'S HEAVY DUTY HEADLIGHT RESTORATION KIT SANDING POLISHING PROTECT G2980

Get this kit if your headlights REALLY need polishing!
Get this kit if your headlights REALLY need polishing! This Heavy Duty polishing kit comes with an excellent sanding pad and two self-stick sanding disks (1000 grit and 3000 grit) to wet-sand that ugly yellow haze off of your headlights! Be sure to following the directions on the box (including painter's tape to mask around the headlights), use a water spray bottle or big cup of water to keep your sanding disk wet, and a terry towel to wipe the sanding sludge off of the sanding disk and headlight in between each pass (save your microfiber towel for final wipe-downs). My headlights were pretty bad, and 3 full horizontal passes with the 1000 grit sanding disk, 3 full vertical passes with the 3000 grit sanding disk, and 3 full orbital passes with the polishing compound and polisher pad in an electric drill, worked great on each headlight. The protectant liquid was a little thicker and stickier than I expected, and it is a bit tricky to get the protectant applied evenly with the foam pad provided. Wet one end of the foam pad with the protectant as evenly as possible prior to each pass, apply in the horizontal direction (starting at the top of each headlight and working your way down), and apply as evenly as possible. Enough material to do at least two pairs of headlights. Works great!
