Simultaneously disgusting and fascinating.
Provides a frank and gossipy insight into a particularly prosperous group within the bohemian artistic demi- monde. The surprisingly VERY well-read Francis Bacon somehow managed to persuade the gullible art establishment that his at best unpleasant, and at worst near- obscene, paintings are great art, for which genuinely obscene prices were paid from a relatively early stage in his career. The book gives an entertaining, occasionally stomach-turning, account of how he and his buddies spent the millions fleeced from mugs with more money than sense on lavish meals and colourful sexual dissipations. This all takes place against a background of richly gilded squalor which Peppiatt brings vividly to life.

Superior to spiral-bound format.
Anyone who's ever had one of these large- scale maps with the more common spiral binding fall apart after a few months will appreciate the superiority of the paperback binding format of the same map. It holds togethet gar better and for longer. Trouble is that the paperbacks are hard to find, even online, and cost appreciably more than the spirals.
Most maps of this type are 2.5"= 1mile. 3"= 1 mile scale doesn't sound very different, but the larger scale is in fact much better when planning and following actual routes on the road. Satnavs are fine, but they cannot give you the overall, yet highly detailed, view of a large area that these large-scale maps provide at a glance.

Went for value and a great brand.
Difficult to rate because with any light bulb everything depends on how long it lasts before it "goes" and has to be replaced, and I don't know that yet. Chose these because of the well-known brand name and fantastic value for money at this price. I should now have enough oven bulbs for several years!
