A delightful animated treat.
I watched this film with great expectations, having heard about how good it is for a great many years. Needless to say those expectations were greatly surpassed.
The animation is incredible, the characters are interesting and amazingly designed (as well as completely bonkers!), and contains a great story that can appeal to both young kids and adults.
But I think the most impressive feat of all is it's portrayal of real-world issues, such as consumerism, our relationship with nature, corporate greed, and forcing young, helpless children into work at a young age. All of these, as well as others, reinforce the film's unique place in animated film history.

Heartbreaking
This film is unlike any animation I've seen. It tells an emotional and gut wrenching story of sibling love and devotion in wartime Japan. Don't expect the film to glorify war in any way. It is brutally realistic in it's portrayal of a war's effect on the people of a country. And it's an animated film!
Would recommend for any fans of Studio Ghibli, or just animation in general.
