Good beginner machine for heavy duty useage
1 of 2 found this helpful I'm very happy so far with my Singer 4423. The only thing that stopped me from giviing a 5 star review is the automatic threader. I bent the hook first thing; had to use a magnifying glass to fix it. Right now I'm just trying different things to learn what it can do. Sucessfully hemmed some old Levis 505; very tough material! Trying to learn how to match thread, needle, machine settings, has been a learning experience. fix the threader and I will give 5 stars! It works as designed, but you MUST have the settings lined up correctly or you will bend the grabber hook. I saw a Brother today in Costco and the threader was far easier to use.

Presser feet set good value.
So far the ones i've tried out work just fine. As a beginning sewer I'm not familiar with all of them, but I'm learning as I go. The darning feet in particular are a big help to me. I would have been nice to have included the description and use of each one.
