gods and generals
A film dealing with the years of victories for the Confederacy .The macabre and realistic winter slaughter at Fredericksburg is depicted with all the gruesome reality of this relatively unknown battle. Stonewall Jacksons inner self and religious zeal offer an intriging insight into a figure everyone has heard of but few actually know anything about .The film ends with the Union disaster at Chancelorsville in may 1862 . The generals on both sides are depicted well with Ambrose, Hancock, Lee and Staurt all portrayed in earnest .Some civilian element to the film gives a good perspective and shows this American war of self-determination was far from being unpopular and also offers the possibility that the eventual outcome was far from inevitable therefore by definition the entire history of the world ,without a United States of America, may have taken a different course
