Missing a lot of basic stuff
0 of 2 found this helpful Bought this as a replacement for my ailing Aspire 5100, whilst this may be a faster machine it misses out a lot of basic stuff and have been fairly underwhelmed by it.
Firstly, theres no indicator light for the caps lock to say when its on. Which is a major niggle.
I don't like the touchpad, its just a slightly recessed areas on the palm rest, I prefer something a little more tactile, the 5100s touchpad was sunken so the edges were clearly defined.
There's 2 USB ports, which are adequate, BUT they're both on the LEFT HAND SIDE of the machine, which means (being right handed) when I plug my USB mouse in, the cables are trailing across the front, of the machine, which is not only unsightly, but gets in the way.
Same is true with the power connector, its located on the left of the machine, these would all be better suited if they were located round the back.
Biggest bug bear of all, there s a built in webcam, BUT NO BUILT IN MICROPHONE. What the hell where the designers thinking? Why go to the trouble of building in a webcam but leave out a mic?
Plus it comes with Windows 7 installed, which if you're used to XP is an absoloute NIGHTMARE to get to grips with. Plus some of my older programs, which were fine on XP, won't work on windows 7 even in compatibility mode, meaning I have to use either the basic image editing programs supplied, or fork out for newer versions, which is most unsatisfactory.
Windows Movie Maker on Windows 7 misses out half the features of the older XP versions, such as a lack of capture function and no timeline view (no good if you like doing YouTube videos)
Plus Windows Live Mail is a pain in the neck compared to Outlook express, way too fiddly and complicated.
I much preffered my previous aspire 5100 and Windows XP to be honest. The only good thing about this is that it was cheap!

Just the job.
Good quality cable, F-connectors pre-fitted, just the job for connecting yhe Sky box to the wall plate, or extending the incoming lead

Does the job, but prepare for a soaking.
Not an official Karcher product, but fits the nozzle of my K-series nicely. Perfect for doing round the underside of your car's wheel arches, but be prepared for a soaking....
