Tough, bleak and a killer watch - a must own
Friedkin doesn't miss. The guy who gave us The French Connection and Sorcerer makes glam LA look like frickin' Nam, man! Michael Mann saw this and said, "Well, I'll give it my own shot" and he did pretty great! But Friedkin's movies have a nihilistic edge that most directors won't go as far to copy. That makes them brutal to watch but also absolutely indelible. You don't forget Friedkin movies. The hardcore nature of TLADILA is no exception. The freeway chase, while unforgettable, is just one part of that scene. He creates movies that you'd never want to live in, but are fascinating to visit. As long as you can escape. His characters are stuck there.
