Good product

Canon PowerShot SX30 IS 14.1 Megapixel Digital Camera
1 of 1 found this helpful I bought this camera in order to avoid the constant trauma of attemting to change my SLR lense before the target beastie fled the scene. And the zoom capability of the Canon SX30 does not disapoint.
It is however taking me some time to adapt to zooming and focusing whilst retaining the subject location. A clever little button which zooms out, then back in does go some way to solving this frustration. At very high zoom it's very difficult to compose the shot and a tripod is needed.
The really annoying aspect of this purchase is the absence of a hardcopy user manual. I've finished up printing out the pages I need - a one inch wadge of paper!
Overall I find this camera's ability to photogragh the smallest and most distant subject, usually with acceptable resolution, very impressive. Add to that it's relative convenience when compared to the two cameras and a collection of lenses I have abitually carried around.

Reliable product at a very reasonable cost
The Canon EF 75 - 300 lens was purchased to replace a tempramental Tamron lens which insisted on exibiting incompatibility at exactly the wrong time. This Canon replacement can be relied upon to actually take a picture and the quality is good as well.
The lens is relatively compact and responsive, and I am pleased with the purchase which was good value for money.
