Great Interpretations - but Variable Live Recording Quality

Overall, I would recommend this set in terms of Simon Rattle's dynamic, cohesive interpretations particularly in his attention to details that are frequently submerged. However, this set comprises recordings over an extensive time span with the earliest being made in 1986 - and I found some of the symphonies (particularly the 7th & 9th) sounded a bit flattened and slightly muffled/"boxy". This is very much a personal opinion & does not detract from the many other generally good reviews that support this set.
