    Bigsby B5 & Vibramate V5-Standard-Quick Mount Kit~0868013003~USA~Brand New
    20 Sep, 2017
    Easy Solid mount
I've got a vintage 1997 Epiphone Les Paul with Epiphone branded B5 factory installed - sparkle red finish. I was not willing to sell that guitar unill..... A year ago I acquired 1998 a cherry burst Korean Les Paul, that needed some TLC. I took a leap recently, and bought the B5 trem with Vibramate mount, even taking customs duty costs into consideration if it didn't work out I could be confidently have made my money back in the UK. Nothing ventured nothing gained as they say. You can always go back - no damage. The fitting of the Vibramate was very easy. Simply destring, select the correct sized screws for ther Vibramaste, (both imperial and metric included), then four small screws to mount the B5 on the bracket. What surprised me the most is that when installed, the bracket is very stable, I had anticipated it rocking with the vibrato action. But no safe as houses. All |I can say is that after doing some fret work, and sorting out the electrics on my cherry burst Epi, I can now let go of the vintage limited edition. The cherry burst is a beast! The extra string length makes bends smoother, the tone rocks. I would recommend the youtube channel 'DylanTalksTone', for general info on Bigsby B5 setup. There's stuff on there that is beyond what common sense will tell you unaided. One note- the Vibramate has fixed spacing to replace your tail-piece - check the centre spacing on your guitar if you happen to have a non brand guitar then check against Bigsby specs online.. Otherwise you should be OK. This measurement is really the only variable in the equation.
Pure Tone Multi-Contact 1/4″ Output Jack
    20 Aug, 2019
    Simple innovation, very effective, recommended.
If you've replaced guitar jack sockets, you may well have used Switchcraft brand, and they are perfectly ok. You'll also know that on an electric guitar with a dodgy output jack nothing else really happens when the jack fails. I've fitted several of these PureTone jacks. Initially the sense of confidence is that the jack grabs when positively when fully inserted, it's not coming out without a good tug. The claims for the longevity of this product look credible. This makes it in the long run seem less expensive (approx £5 compared to about £3 for switchcraft). The concept is very simple - two points of contact for both the tip and barrel of the jack. Claims are also made for better signal, especially in the bass and mids frequencies. I think that this would be more noticeable as time goes on. Standard jack sockets do wear out noticeably. These PureTone ones look very well engineered. Of course it also makes sense also for the mount / plate the jack socket if fixed so as to be very secure, and maybe a drop of superglue on the nut thread at final fitting - works well forme.
Epiphone Blueshawk Deluxe Electric Guitar, Trans Black (NEW)
    25 Jan, 2017
    Needed setup, Great Guitar
The build and quality are excellent - it looks like quality control has improved for Chinese Epiphones. The black finish on my guitar is darker than the stock photo but I prefer it darker. The guitar did need some adjustment to the action and intonation. The bridge p/u also was set way too low but fortunately these P90s have height adjustment small screws between the polepieces unlike other types - very helpful. The electrics are all good, in case you are wondering the Varitone control - still a bit undecided about that. Tends to work best in neck + middle settings. Nice touch to give a second bypass switch for the Varitone by raising tone pot - practical for gigging. Overall represents good value for money for a great sounding, nice feel and damn fine looking guitar.
