Great camera, good for semi-pros starting out and brilliant value for money
13 of 13 found this helpful Canon 600D camera itself is fantastic, but the standard lens kit (18-55mm) zoom, isn't amazing. Image quality is great, and it takes high standard of photos from wide-angle up to mid telephoto range, so is quite good for portrait photography. My only gripe is that using the lens for video work, gives problems while zooming in and out on a subject. The aperture isn't fixed, so there are noticeable (and annoying) stop jumps as you change the focal length back and forth. It's ok for panning and non-zoom filming tho. Definitely should invest in a better, possibly fixed aperture prime or zoom lenses for video work. Overall, this is a great camera at a great price.

Amazing value prime lens. A must for all Canon DSLR users.
This 50mm prime lens is simply amazing for the price...i believe it's probably the cheapest canon lens available? But anyhow, i love the image quality and shallow depth of field of this one. Recently used this to shoot a gig, and image/exposure in low level lighting is perfect. For the money, you get very good quality bokeh background blurring and a nice sharpness of picture. Also looks great for HD video, as it's a fast, prime lens, and gives quite a filmic quality. This is a must for all canon DSLR users.

love Stargate but its a bit pricey
