A GREAT PIECE OF EQUIPMENT
I already have an existing dmx6fire usb in good working order. I use it for listening to audio recordings on headphones on my computer and have made several live recordings in my home using it. The sound quality quality is excellant. The reason i chose it in the first place is that all the other manufacturers versions have a totally gutless headphone performance, next to no volume. I do not believe it is possible to get reasonable volume using only a usb connection, not enough power to drive headphones to a reasonable level, I am not a headbanger.. The dmx 6fire usb does have a usb connection but it also has a power supply wall wart to plug into the mains and I think it is this that allows the headphone outlet to give great performance. USB alone is gutless in my opinion.
The reason I bought another one is as a spare in case my existing one fails. I have had my original one 10 years or more now and things dont lasr forever although it is still working perfectly. I have looked on the Terratec website a couple of times recently and I dont think they make them anymore so if you can get on then snap it up. You wont be disssapointed..
