Brighter Than Anticipated
I bought it as a cat entertainment toy because she always enjoyed the small key chain size laser pointer I had that ran on 4 small button cells. The battery life on the key chain device was poor so I was tempted by the fact this product ran on a pair of AAA cells. Despite claiming to be only 1mW, it is VERY bright - probably too bright for use as a cat toy (although she is getting used to it now). It's certainly good value but the beam isn't very well focussed for a laser. Not a problem for my application but should be borne in mind.

Good Quality NiMH Battery
Upgraded an Oral B 3000 toothbrush whose battery was barely up to two uses before needing another charge. Fitting a new battery is not for the faint-hearted because Braun would clearly rather you buy a new toothbrush than extend the life of the old one. However an electronics hobbyist should have little trouble. Set aside an hour or two to do it. Cutting out the plastic fins in the battery holder is well worth doing to accommodate this larger battery.
This is the second one of these I've done.
