Light at the end of a tunnel? Without question, it ain't Sidewinder.
No one's ever going to describe the Streamlight Sidewinder as the Lord of darkness.
The deliverables deficit begins with a woefully underpowered LED. Be it on red, green, or IR, the beam proves so profoundly faint one would think it's not powering up at all.
Reflexively, I ran four sets of batteries--Streamlight's own brand to Duracells to pricey rechargeables--assuming that to be the issue. Yet I saw no difference whatsoever from one set of batteries to the next.
In sum, file this Streamlight under F. For forgettable.

Phenomenal book, abhorrent seller
A rather fresh if evocative weave of a book.
First, in the textual, author Andy Kirk walked back our training and rehearsing for Armageddon.
From the various tests of Doomsday weapons to the pivotal personalities therein. Plus Kirk shaped a detailed deconstructing of the Nevada Test Site, the locus of everything Atomic Age: from downwind cancers to cocktails.
Now to the art. To this heavy and somber subject, illustrator Kristian Purcell brought discernible lightness with his crisp illustrations.

good visual matched to utility
I employ this at the bottom of my granite grey sink, not atop it; more as a protective and organizing device. It's well suited to that use.
