Funny Cide - Horse Racing's Cinderella Story
This book is the Cinderella story of a group of men who decided to pool their money to buy a race horse. It is of special interest to me because the men live in a town in upstate New York near where I grew up. The horse proved to be an excellent investment. Funny Cide wasn't expected to make a lot of money or win a lot of races. He surprised everyone by winning the Kentucky Derby, then the Preakness and moving on to Belmont in hopes of winning the coveted and seldom won Triple Crown of horse racing. He didn't win at Belmont, but he had many followers and was cheered more loudly than the actual winner of the race. The story gives an inside look at the lives and emotions of the owners of this amazing horse. It's a heartwarming, sad, thrilling story of horse racing at its best. Of the underdog, the guys who bought a horse, but didn't really expect to win any major races with him. It's a good read that will keep your interest the entire way. There was nothing about the book that I didn't like. It's a book I'll keep in my collection to read again some year down the road. And next summer I think I'll travel back to that small upstate town of Sackets Harbor just to see how things have changed over the past 30 years.

Dark Tower - Stephen King
I love anything written by Stephen King. I read this one years ago and loved it, so bought it for my Dad. It's a fast-paced, interesting, series of books - true to form with SK.

Going Rogue....
This was a very interesting book that gave me a new perspective about Sarah Palin. After the skewed media views reported during the campaign and after I was confused about just who Sarah Palin is. The media was often unkind to her and gave Americans the wrong impression of this dynamic, intelligent, amazing woman. I found her book to be heartwarming. I was not surprised to read about the ways the media and political parties skewed the truth about her. I think every voting American should read this book. After reading it I think Sarah Palin would be an excellent candidate for president of this country. If she can do for the country what she has done for Alaska it would be wonderful. She believes in values and ethics and morals and doing what is right even if it isn't politically correct. I appreciate and admire that about her. She isn't afraid to take on "city hall" and clean up their act. That's what the United States needs for a President. Someone who will stand up and fight for what is RIGHT. I can't wait to read her second book. If Sarah Palin runs for President in the next election, you can bet she will get my vote.
