Montrose by Montrose (CD, Oct-2009, Rock Candy)

This particular remastered version of the debut Montrose album is the best
If you're going to buy the debut self-titled Montrose record on cd, the Rock Candy label remaster/reissue is the one to get. The remastering sounds great without compromising the true sound of the record. I can't say the same for other cd issues of this album.

Sourland by Joyce Carol Oates (2010, Hardcover)

    Dark Oates
Oates is always a compelling author and a master of the short story. These stories aren't exactly cheerful, be advised.
Moby Grape '69 by Moby Grape (CD, Nov-2007, Sundazed) mint with slipcase OOP

    My favorite Moby Grape record
Moby Grape '69 is in my mind the most mature, soulful, and solid Moby Grape record. Solid songs, arrangements, feel, drive, and performances. The vocals are especially great. The remastering job is good as well. Moby Grape '69 is the first record by the band without the legendary Skip Spence in the lineup. Some critics will say this record is good, but there's something missing without Skip. The subjective bias is evident in that in actuality, a number of these songs were initially conceived before he left, I believe. Regardless, though, there is plenty of magic on this record and I don't feel the band loses much if anything without him. If anything, they're a tighter, more professional outfit. Think about how Pink Floyd had Syd Barrett originally, but became a better overall artist after he left. Sometimes people are prone to favoring romanticism of a certain member without just taking the music on its own merit irrespective of who's still in the group.
