Elusive Eight Black Horses
The U.K. Hamilton edition is one of the rarest of McBain’s novels from 1965 onwards. Strange publishing history and premature BCA Guild edition release means it never got properly issued by Hamilton. It’s a cracking McBain 87th Precinct novel, with the enigmatic Deaf Man lurking in the shadows.

The best of its kind - indispensable!
The authoritative work of such conscientious scholarship - eruditely written and attractively presented by two very talented and dedicated collaborators..

Fair and accurate - a very important book.
Fascinatingly thorough and stimulating about (arguably) the greatest twentieth century commercial designer. the value of his contributions and inspiration for posters, book jackets and illustrations are hard to estimate This first Gordon Fraser edition has far more photo references than the later V&A paperback imprint which is generally on offer.
