Pretty alternative to traditional travelers notebooks
I decided that I loved the idea of a travelers notebook but wasn't in love with the plain leather / faux leather options that are most commonly found in stores. I am so glad that I kept looking until I found the Jane Davenport "Butterfly Effect Book". It's the exact same thing as a "travelers notebook" though the cover is a canvas material (I bought the three printed versions but it also comes in blank so that you can decorate it with your own art).
The book comes with two elastics to hold your books and 4 sheets of paper (or since they're folded in half, an 8 page booklet). I do like that the paper is thick though I would advise just cutting your own favorite paper to size as replacements as I don't find the official papers inserts to be as good of a value as this cover is. You can also other official accessories separately like extra a cover (yes a cover for your cover), elastics, charms, pockets, etc.
I highly recommend the cover itself and the separately available pockets.

Better than the competitors
Bought this to replace one that I had bought from another brand. That one was such poor quality that it was unusable. This one, however, works perfectly. The rods stay in place so you can work, which was a serous issue for me in the other brand. If you're looking for an affordable hairpin loom, I'd go with this one.

Not as nice as my old one
I have had a Pooh Bear version of this for several years and wanted a new one. This one is just as cute but they seemed to change how they're made as this latch is nowhere near as secure as the older ones. The old ones you actually feel latch and it takes a little effort to open while this one an infant could probably open on accident. So cute but don't put anything important in it.
