The Birth of a Nation - DVD
6 of 6 found this helpful If you think you can't possibly be "moved" by a silent film then think again. Ten minutes into this movie you will not be able to walk away. I quickly forgot that it wasn't a "talkie" and became completely wrapped up in the story.
This is the story of a proud and virtuous people who have been defeated in war, abused and treated as criminals in the land of their birth. Finally with a tenacious spirit and a strong faith in God, they turn back the tide of evil and reclaim their birthright.
If you enjoy movies where the "good guys" win in the end, then you will love this film!
This movie is truly worthy of it's universal distinction as the greatest silent film ever made. A true American classic and one of the top 5 movies of all time.

Don Knotts at his Best!
I first saw this movie as a child and fell in love with the nervous character played by Don Knotts. Most of us enjoy his performance as Barney on the Andy Griffith show, but his movies are often forgotten. I would recommend this as a first class example of the talent of Don Knotts and a cast of characters that you will recognize from 1960's family friendly sitcoms.
