Worthy Finale
6 of 6 found this helpful This is a worthy continuation to the Arkham franchise in terms of scope, overall polish, and new additions.
Gotham is as good as ever. Extremely well-designed and fun to explore. Unfortunately, there is nothing much to do there, except for the Riddler trophies, which are fun and interesting, but don't quite cover the possibilities.
Gameplay is also very good. The fighting system we all know and love is back, which some new additions. As always, those additions are a breath of new air, but the core is the same.
Perhaps the most important addition is the Bat-mobile. The controls are excellent. Rocksteady tried to find ways to make the infamous car useful for the missions, and I think they have succeeded. People criticize the game for the fact that there's too much of the Bat-mobile in the game, and I think they're partially right. In the parts where the it serves merely as a gadget, Bat-mobile is extremely fun to use, whether it's for solving puzzles or traversing Gotham. However, when it's usage is forced upon you, it's very annoying and feels lazy. Bat-mobile should not be used as the only means to win a boss battle. Boss battles are the times when we most definitely want to be the Batman, and disperse justice using our fists.
The story was amazing. The stakes are higher than ever. This really feels like a end to a trilogy, and an impressive one at that.
Overall, I enjoyed this game a lot and would recommend to anyone. There's nothing to do after completing the main missions thought. Riddler trophies are fun, but not sufficient to keep you engaged, so keep that in mind.
