Very disappointing performance

Installed system last month. Nothing but trouble. Very disappointing experience. 1) Had to keep resetting the unit before it would connect to my network. Finally got the connection established but the setup is not user-friendly at all. It's not readily apparent that your connection has been established so I spent too much time guessing. 2) Brand new batteries were drained in a month. Read that a new set should last at least 6 month. 3) Now the controller is dead. No voltage reading on it at all. Really not looking for this kind of trouble since we are 300 miles away from the home on a regular basis. Thank goodness it worked when the landscapers needed to test the irrigation system. That said, it's a holiday weekend so I can't get any support. So now it will be another month before we can test anything new. That leaves me terribly worrried about the new landscaping. Sigh. Was looking for something I could operate remotely that was simple, realiable. and didn't require hard wiring and tapping into the water line. So far, this is not it. All in, I'm at about the same price a Racchio or RainMachine. I'll be moving to one of those if I don't get a satisfactory response from Melnor.
