Chicane - Chilled (CD 1999)
This EP from Chicane is a Master Piece - especially Offshore (Original Ambient Version)...
And will be remembered as a true classic. Featuring some of the best tunes the artiste is known for, remixed by top producers like a Disco Citizens, DJ Quicksilver, A Man Called Adam. Getting quite hard to get hold of. Do yourself a favour if you come across it - GET IT..! It will make anyones top 20, it makes it into my top 10..!

Gabriel & Dresden - Gabriel And Dresden 2CD Album
Veteran producers Gabriel & Dresden release their first artist album on May 29th, 2006 out on Organized Nature. This eagerly anticipated self-titled LP features twelve new tracks from the duo, with combined work from vocalists such as Molly Bancroft and Jan Burton.
San Francisco based Josh Gabriel & Dave Dresden stormed their way into the scene several years ago, winning the accolades of fans with their rock-pop inspired productions and remixes. With successful side projects such as Andain and Motorcycle, these two are no strangers to the studio and its about time we get an entire disc filled with their inspirations.
'The self-titled album, Gabriel & Dresden, relies heavily on vocal tracks staying true to the classic Gabriel & Dresden formula'.
Kicking things off with the melodic rock offering, Let Go, Josh and Dave strike familiar chords of the past hooking your senses in for an exciting trip. The first release from the album looks to be Eleven and Mass Repeat, which take things a bit more serious, driving into some nice melodic hook territory with stabbing kicks and wobbly synths. Mass Repeat is a personal favorite as it drives us into darker tech based territory and would have no problem moving a dance floor. Dipping down for the middle of the album, the sound-scape of Amsterdam Interlude and Not Enough exhibit the dynamic capability of these two producers. Not ready to let us off so quickly, Sydney takes things back up the ramp and dives us into an aggressive finish, tapping things off with Dangerous Power and the already successful Tracking Treasure Down.
All of this adds up to a package that is solid, but not surprising.
'With such talent in the studio, the motto of “If it ain't broke, don't fix it” comes to mind'.
“Gabriel & Dresden” is a safe album with few surprises. When the surprises do come, they are a fresh reminder of the capability that these two have in the studio. This CD will no doubt win accolades from current Gabriel & Dresden fans and provide a nice gateway to newcomers to the electronic music scene, but I feel it fails to capture the attention of those seeking something a little more forward thinking. I hope their next venture will capture on the moments that Mass Repeat, Amsterdam Interlude, and Sydney offer - to me, this is Gabriel & Dresden at their finest.
