Needed for night time wildlife
Never used a camera like this before, but it does what I want. Menu is easy to use, photo and video are as clear as I need (not tried daytime). IR lighting and movement sensor work well. A bit of trial and error is needed to get the area you are monitoring at the right angle, otherwise the IR lighting gives a bright white patch in the pic/video. I am recording badgers at between 2 metres and 10 metres from the camera.
Loaded with 8 batteries and have it set for 6 hours monitoring each night, so far no problems, and have got pics and video of fox, cats and badgers wandering around the garden. It has not rained so not tested how waterproof although the seals and clips look good.
I bought a 16Gb SD card and that will last for weeks at present use. You can take the card out if you have a card reader on your pc, or just unclip the camera from the base and plug into the pc with the usb lead provided. Works easily on Windows7 so assume will download on other versions. It is in avi format and I edited with MS moviemaker.
Animals do not seem to sense it is there, so IR lighting not visible to them (i.e no glow) as stated. I have not tried fitting to a tripod as the straps are easy to fit on a tree or post.
The only bit that could be improved is the small screw to fix the camera to the mounting base/extra battery carrier, as it is too short. However, the clips hold the camera firmly in place.
There are cheaper and more expensive cameras available, but for me it was £80 plus SD card well spent with (so far) trouble free operation and getting the results I wanted.

Disappointed
1 of 1 found this helpful Extremely fiddly, does not clamp properly, the depth gauge adjuster broke first turn, the file sliding assembly is too loose for a nice even stroke. Far easier with hand held file and guide. I am a reasonably handy DIYer, but this defeated me. £25 wasted.

Veg problems
I am taking 6 soil samples from different areas of the garden. Initial results tally with the yellowing leaves and poor veg crops experienced. High pH, low Nitrogen for starters! The kit is easy to use, plenty of instructions and guidance. I used distilled water as our tap water is high in lime. Will treat each area accordingly (plenty of advice on RHS website) over the winter and retest in Spring.. only minor quibble is that there is no 0.5ml mark, so simplyadd the relevant liquid drop by drop and estimate by eye, seems to work fine.
