Smaller than description suggests
Calling these heavy duty is like calling a Del Boy's Reliant Regal van a heavy goods truck. Should have looked closer at the dimensions - 6inch long - too short to be much use.

AGM 30 Gas Engine
2 of 2 found this helpful Please note I am not comparing this engine against any other - this is a review of the AGM 30 on its own merits.
The manufacturing and construction of the engine is to a good standard, better than some and certainly seems fit for purpose. It started well and so far has proven to be a reliable unit. It has excellent power and the throttle response is very good. I am enjoying using this engine having had a couple of hours flying time with it so far.
Areas that could be improved: the mounting tubes in the silencer (muffler) were very tight on the cap head screws. As a result it was not possible to fit anti vibration washers - none were supplied anyway. This resulted in the silencer coming loose on after 30-40 minutes running time in the aircraft. This was cured by carefully opening out the holes and both fitting a single coil washer and using thread lock.
The throttle linkage is virtually impossible to connect to with standard RC parts. I had to make a new throttle arm for this.
The choke arrangement (it locks on and releases when the throttle is opened) is of limited use within an RC aircraft. That said so far I have not needed to choke the engine as I use an electric starter and the temperature has been 20°C plus.
The silencer(muffler) is not very effective. It would not meet the normal limits for engine noise in the UK. However in my experience that is typical of engines of this size and type. There are various cannister types about that should fit, but in my case the Hobbyking DLE-30 Muffler Silencer add-on unit worked well - albeit with some power loss at peak rpm.
I would still recommend this engine as good value for money.
