Older Models Are The Best
Although vintage, this is one of the finest printer/scanners you can buy, far superior to current models in my opinion. But it's not easy to set up if you want to run it on Windows 10, because you have to ignore the Canon website which will automatically detect that you are using Windows 10 and will tell you there are no programs available to run the machine on your device. If you seek Canon support they should tell you that you could try downloading the software which is meant for Windows 8.1 (64 bit), and if you are lucky it will work. At the moment, it does work, but I'm keeping an old computer running Windows 8.1 on standby, just in case it ever ceases to work with Windows 10. The inks for older models like this are also very cheap compared to newer models. For those who like to minimise their exposure to wi-fi, be assured that the wi-fi switches off when you choose the cable option. The Pixma MP620, 630 and 640s are also much more stylish than any on the market today - it's strange how design hit a high point between 5 and 10 years ago in the entire computing industry, and has since completely collapsed. Attractively shaped and in silver and black, these are a pleasure to look at and to use. And the scanning quality (as given in dpi) is double a similarly sophisticated (older) machine that I nearly bought.
