Fascinating
A fascinating insight to Clearance Divers and their role in the Falklands War; as he says, there are some aspects that are not historically accurate when later research is carried out, but it is what he wrote at the time, and decided to leave it as written rather than alter it. The latter part of the book deals with saturation diving in the offshore oil industry, and is a bit complicated for the uninitiated at times, but still worth reading. Heartily recommended!

Don't buy a compass if it comes via airmail!
The compass is fantastic, and it seems strange that Silva appears to have discontinued making it - at least, it is not available from Silva SE. However, three days after it arrived, it developed a bubble, which can affect its accuracy. I put this down to the fact that it came via airmail, and the pressure differences caused the bubble to appear. That was a pity, as it would have been a great compass but for that.

Disappointing from a very funny man
I have always admired and respected Dickie Bird, and when speaking, he is very witty and funny, so I was expecting lots of rib-tickling anecdotes in this book, but sadly, they are almost non-existent. I found the book boring - true, it contained a lot of cricket information, but I was disappointed.
