Poorly engineered product

Numerous problems with quality of materials, quality of engineering, choice of fixings and lack of durability. I was prepared to buy 3 of these arches until I assembled the first. I have spent many hours fixing basic alignment problems, re-fixing and glueing the lattice slats that fell off due to poor staples and modifying the wood inserts that pulled out of the very low grade end grain timber. As with many of these type of 'cheaper' products the fixings are basic steel that will rust and stain the structure. I replaced all with stainless steel equivalents. Many of the fixings were wildly over length and using the supplied Allen key would take ages to insert just one. It looks elegant enough and for a little attention to grade of timber and fixings it could be a good product but I would not recommend it based on my experience.

Looks like the real thing but did not work

Lovely delicate thing but did not work. After much research and cleaning the capillary I tried various 'known' alcoholic beers and wines but this device did not give the correct reading, if at all. Initially it was difficult to get the small air bubbles out of the capillary but after fine wire and cleaning I did get liquids to flow through. The only reading I managed was 8% on a 3.4% beer. Very cheap and a long wait from China but the item I received will go into glass recycling. Maybe I was unlucky but obviously no quality control.
