would not download to iphone

I connected it up and the light came on but when it came to downloading it to the app, I couldn't get it to connect to my iphone 5s. I tried scanning the code which came up with a slightly different app but it too would not download. There was absolutely no information coming in. I am in the process now of returning it. It looks like good quality so I was really disappointed.
