I'm unable to comment on running temperatures as many factors would be at play, however I'm very pleased it works well for you as it did for me. Have fun!

LEDE - OpenWRT - LuCI
2 of 2 found this helpful Where do we start? If you are reading this thinking about wireless freedom, then read on.
On it's own, the HomeHub 5 is a good router, it's the same board and bits they throw in the PlusNet Hub One unit. Exactly the same!
The "upgrade" is where LEDE, OpenWRT and LuCI come in. The upgrade itself is a hard job, involves some precision soldering and well, I even tried it myself and I consider myself very good with electronics, but this was a little too beyond me. So, the alternative? Buy one on Ebay.
So, what do you get? Well, a router that's been set onto Beast-Mode from the get go. It's not plug n play, so if you are in anyway nervous about router settings, isps and their respective connections then either read up or walk away.
That said, once you have it hooked up to your ISP connection, man is this thing sweet.
Think about all the things you've wanted to do with your stock router and then re-write the book. This thing has everything, I mean everything.
What I wanted from this was to be able to use a vpn, my own dns, my own ip scheme, to bridge to another router (to use as an extender) and finally 6in4 ipv6.
I got the lot. Well worth the price paid.
If you are a super geek, want freedom from your stock router then get one of these. Not for the nervous or non geeky in my opinion, this is a real toy.
