Ball-joint protectors are prone to corrosion, probably a consequence of the proximity of road salt and the heat generated by the brake discs. If you are renewing the ball-joint, check the condition of the protector to ensure it is still serviceable. I have seen a case where the protector was severely corroded, and was thrown away and not replaced, and the new ball-joint failed soon afterwards. For some vehicles, the ball-joint is not a separate item and the entire lower suspension arm needs to be replaced. The cost of these protectors is negligible compared to the cost of buying and fitting a new ball-joint. As for the long-term durability of this protector, it is too early to say. But after 12 months it is looking OK

Delivered promptly. Quality looks good, but can't be certain as not yet used in anger. These hub nuts are tightened to a ridiculous torque so the socket will really need to be robust. I found a way of doing the job without removing the hub nut. I tried the 24 mm socket for size; it wasn't as snug a fit as I expected

Very effective on stubborn nuts.

I have used Plus Gas for about 10 years and it has nearly always come good in the end in freeing corroded nuts. I previously had the version in the blue tin and I wondered if the new version in the black tin would be as good. I was not disappointed. And the cap on the end of the spout is a welcome improvement. My only minor gripe is that the spout is a tight fit within the cover and a slightly larger cover would have made stowing the spout a lot easier.
