Great lens for the money: Nikon Nikkor 55-200mm
2 of 2 found this helpful While this lens probably won't allow you to 'stand off' your target to a huge extent for a mid range zoom in reasonable lighting conditions you could do a lot worse.
The VR (Vibration Reduction) system seems to work well with hand held shots at the utmost range giving crystal clear results and up to now this system has only being included in considerably more expensive Nikon lenses.
Up to the time of writing I haven't noticed any particular distortions at the lenses extreme ranges but I haven't really tried it with fast moving targets / un-ideal lighting conditions so I guess it could come unstuck here.
So to summarise, a great deal for a good quality Nixon branded lens. Recommended...
