Ties that bind
Recently completed a bucket list item and acquired my first Les Paul, a cherry sunburst. Not too long before getting a Les Paul, I had discovered a long line (back to when there were only three numbers in a year) of Scottish, Welsh, Irish, and English ancestry of which no one in the family had ever been aware. These two events, getting a Les Paul and discovering previously unknown Celtic heritage, can rock your thinking a bit, at least they rocked mine, and I guess I'm still getting over it all and the strap binds them together. Because the cherry sunburst of the guitar has lots of red, and the back of it is actually shiny solid red, when I came across this Celtic Red Dog motif guitar strap on eBay, I could not resist placing an order and am very pleased I did. The red of the leather and the red on the guitar look terrific together as I had a strong hunch they would, and at the same time the strap is a subtle enough presence that it doesn't detract from the classic guitar it supports. Another aspect of the strap I like very much is the black-suede backing. It provides superior grip and holds the guitar firmly in place, no matter how I move around. I adjusted the strap the day it arrived and have not had cause to fiddle with it since. This strap not only furthers the tie between my guitar and my ancestry (always an important tie to further as we all know), but the design on the exterior leather side is really quite beautiful and is a type of art I had not seen before. I'm a life-long dog owner too, and my current dog is a terrier so there's that connection as well. On top of it all, the folks at 1 to 1 Music are really very nice, very helpful, and good communicators and I hope to order from them many more times. As far as I'm concerned, if you're looking for a classy, well made, red-leather guitar strap with a brilliant Celtic design, you need look no further.

Build Your Mando Song List Quickly
Standard notation, TABs, chords, and lyrics are presented for eight songs, half of which I am studying and adding to the old song list and am happy to have found them. The other four I have not heard before nor heard of the artists who apparently had hits with them. But I'll bet the majority of the public have heard them, so no big deal. The book is an excellent value even for just the four I'm learning. Perhaps of most value to me in this book is Going to California, because it was Led Zeppelin and this song in particular that brought me to the mandolin. You do not need to read music (standard notation) to benefit from this book, since TABs and the chords and lyrics are also there. If these songs are ones you want to learn, give it a go, this book is an excellent study guide and will get you there.

Simple, easy-to-use method of learning songs by The Ventures
Great study aid to learn Ventures songs, several of which I have not been able to find learning aids or tabs. No cons yet, and don’t see where there could be any. Simple, straightforward way to learn. Surf’s up! Book ’em Danno! Aloha.
