Lovely New Novel
A lovely story of a young woman’s life from her difficult childhood through school and on into adulthood during the pre-war years into the start of WW2. The characters come to life off the page and I got quite attached to Nita and her close friend Yolanda. These two women forged a life during the blitz and become modern women, breaking the mold of their mothers, and take their place as modern women that we recognise now. I particularly looked forward to reading this book as I so enjoyed the author’s earlier novel “Mrs Fisher’s Tulip.” A great read that is a real page turner, I have ordered its sequel and long to see how Nita’s new life in India turns out. Highly recommended!
