    Hell-for-strong, and absolutely reliable.
I already had some of these - two each for medical records to carry about, one for work product (writing and suchlike) that I work on. This one was essentially a "scratch" drive for whatever I wanted to carry about. I got it because I've knackered about the other three pretty good, and prior experience counts for a lot! I accidentally ran one over with a friend's truck, they've been rained on, dunked in water, dropped onto cement, had things dropped onto them while resting on cement, gone swimming with me, and whatever else - they still look new! (The only modification was the application of a label describing content, and clear heat-shrink tubing to preserve the label.) If I had to make any changes, I'd reverse the attachment point to hang the thing - have the eye for the split ring moulded into the removable sleeve case, instead of in the body of the drive. Other than that? Really not a lot to change (okeh, maybe I'd have a bit more clearance between the bdy of the drive and the inside of the case, to allow for a layer of heatshrink to preserve the label, but that's about it.) If you want a thumb drive that can take whatever you can dish out, this is IT.
USGI Signal Panel Marker Aerial Liaison VS-17/GVX 6' x 2' Orange / OD Green

A valuable addition to road kit..
Uses no batteries, doesn't rust, won't become unusable if you maintain it properly (which instructions are printed on the back, and stored properly - in a go bag.) I've been wanting to get a few of these for a bit to take on road trips just in case something goes wrong - under Murphy's Law, the more you are prepared for, the less will go wrong. Find (or better, buy) an older copy of the Boy Scout Handbook, or the official Army FM on Visual Signals for instructions on how to lay out visual signals that may be immediately read from the air. Consider four of these panels to be a minimum - a set of eight is about right. The FM on visual signals is, I believe, readily available at the Reimer Digital Library - a repository of unclassified military Field Manuals, Technical Manuals, Army Regulations, and the like - MANY useful books there! - and a quick Google session should turn it up. If you run into something that requires a password to open a file, you've hit a "For Official Use Only" manual - just back out and look for something else... It seems like I've wandered afield just a bit - but the tangential information will tell you how to use the VS-17 panels, and is useful to know anyhow (the ground signals need not be set up with VS-17 panels, they're just the easiest way to do it. VS-17s are available in two colour combinations - OD/orange and pink/orange. Which you get depends on intended use - I'm too used to tactical/field gear, so I got the OD/Orange. Pink/Orange can give more contrasting signaling options (pink can contrast better against some foliage and some sand than orange can, for instance.)
Rocket Propulsion Elements Hardcover George Paul Sutton

A technical book, but worth the read if you're interested in the topic
For this interested in the topic, I highly recommend this text. Note that "interested" doesn't mean "casual interest" - more like "seriously learning to design rocket engines" (as I'm doing.) But, it's given me much that I haven't been able to find on my own as of yet, and it was a deal at twice the price! Leaving aside that the book arrived a day early, and in excellent condition...
