Sound improvement
4 of 4 found this helpful If you want to compete with the kids and their boom boxes then forget it. If you want your ICE to sound like it came out of a Range Rover then read on. I have an old 4x4 and a lot of bass sound is lost in the space. Adding this has really made the system sound expensive. I have a regular Kenwood head unit which has a sub woofer switchable output in the menu so the whole thing can be controlled form the head unit. Wiring is very easy. In mine the constant power and ignition switch power were the same colour, just splice-in and thats it. Sound uses a RCA lead which you have to buy, If you measure before hand then you have no problem. Position the Sub where you want it fix the earth and you're done. Connect the remote if you want ( I did to begin with but found that I kept using one setting so set that on the head unit and disconnected the remote ).
The sound is excellent. My head unit is 50 watts x 4 RMS the sub Is 150 watts and you can set the volume independently to get the right sound for taste. The sub gets warm to the touch, that is normal, but not hot, so don't worry. One caution. If you use the remote and set the sub volume to max, it is also possible to set the sub volume to max on the head unit which boosts output further. If you were playing heavy bass sounds at high overall volume you might damage it.
Overall this is a very easy unit to install and for the money makes a fantastic difference. The sub is quite small and tucks under seats or you could ( like me ) fit it to the rear door. The remote is fun but if your head unit supports a sub then you may find it is easier to use that to set the sound. I would imagine in a smaller car it would be really quite loud.

Knee pads
Cheap means poor quality? Not with these. I use them daily working on cars and they are holding up well against mates who have spent lots more.
