Huge disappointment - hate the style and don't really understand the point.
Ane wun hu can liv wiv da fonetiks, I salute you. I'm not an idiot, and I particularly enjoy anything post-apocalyptic or futuristic, but I found this too hard to get into. What with the total lack of explanation and the horrible phonetic cadence and the fact that I didn't find Dave either funny or interesting, I just did not bother to finish this. Was really disappointed. Then again, that may just be me so by all means give it a shot.

An excellent interpretation of an incredible myth.
Although considered Young Adult fiction, this novel deals with harrowing adult themes and is suitable for older readers as well. A futuristic adaptation of the Icelandic Volsunga saga, Burgess's "Bloodtide" takes the reader into a London that is torn apart by two warring ganglords. Can one man trust the other when an attempt to heal the violent feud is sealed with a marriage? Bristling with halfmen, racial pogroms and the gods' sporadic but life-changing interventions, Bloodtide is part myth, part post-apocalyptic fantasy and written in Burgess's typical omniscient style, it will introduce you to a number of bizarre characters so believable you won't quite know where you are when you put it down.
