Great Intel CPU
5 of 5 found this helpful Another very good Intel product. I use for mostly basic things like reading the news, playing a few online games, etc. I am also using just the Intel UHD Graphics 770 for video and it is more responsive than I thought it would be. I have no problem recommending the Intel Core I5-12600K - Core i5 12th Gen Alder Lake 10-Core chip.

Intel DX79SR Motherboard
I've owned an Intel DX79SR since it was released in 2011. I especially liked it because of its capability to run a zeon chip, which is still running. My system has 64 GB ram. By todays standards, it is aging out, so paying more than $125 is probably not a great idea unless you intend to stay with it for more than 5 years. Since Intel no longer provides support for the board, think about moving to at least a DDR4 board. The board is quite stable. The type of ram, speed and chip you have on the board can improve gaming but it is not really designed for gaming.

Probably not great for gaming but for apps like PS, Lightroom, video editing, etc., it does very well.
