A Good HD Recorder
1 of 1 found this helpful Well you can buy a Humax for several hundred pounds, or this box for under £25. What do you get for your money in each case? from Humax all the bells and whistles, but one huge weakness, your recordings are blocked into the machine. The IView gives you excellent quality HD recordings you can edit and keep on a computer (converting to mp4 format takes just a minute or two for HD) and a workable EPG in English to set up the recordings. OK you have to add a few minutes to the start and end of recordings to ensure you cope with early/late starts, and only one recording at a time, but what do you expect for the money. Plug an SSD or top end USB stick in and you can make multiple recordings, and despite what other reviewers say, as long as your medium supports it, you aren't restricted to Fat32 with it's 4gb restriction. Two software enhancements would be welcome:
1. Despite what the manual says you can't page up and down in the EPG, only one line up/down at a time.
and
2. When you've registered a recording from the EPG it drops you back into it at the current time, rather than more usefully at the point you left it to register the recording.
If you want a recorder which doesn't lock them in to the box's hard disc then this is what you need at a very good price.
Make sure the one you buy is modified for a correct representation of British HD English Language Text display

Good Value, Good Light
It has a lot brighter light than another offering at many times the price, and has a far greater capacity.
The recessed press switch is recessed and can be a bit difficult to depress for the time to turn it off and on, but on the other hand it isn't going to be accidentally operated. An ideal part of your luggage when you are on the move both to charge your personal hifi etc or as lighting.
Recently had a 6 hour power cut in the evening/night and it was the perfect emergency lighting both to illuminate a whole room, to read, or navigate around the house.
And of course it is dirt cheap.
#If it's still available it will probably be part of my family Christmas presents this year.

Cheap and does the job.
Once you have worked out the pins to use it was simple to wire up - ideal for USB based switching circuitry
