High marks from a series fan
This is a fun, action-packed sequel to the terminator franchise that not only manages entertains you, but feels like a fresh update to the franchise. To tell you the truth it almost feels like "Terminator: Our Apology for Rise of the Machines". The acting by Sam Worthington and Christian Bale were emotional and fresh with bale playing a glowering and mature Conner. Worthington's account of a man thrown into this world gone mad feels spot on and genuine. The action feels realistic and well paced, as does the story line. The video transfer is simply amazing, and while it lacks any semblance of a bright and detailed palette, the dusty hues and deep contrast will showcase, from beginning to end, the details that your particular set up can bring out. The blasted remains of L.A. are stunning in 1080p, as are the sparse and open desert landscapes the characters find themselves adventuring through. The sound is crisp, even on my older Dolby Pro-Logic I set up. It does a great job of making the sound experience 3-d and helps draw you into the film. Bullets fly, impacts slam over your head, Attack Planes blast over your couch with crisp and deep thunder. Weather your a long time fan of the series, or a video-phile looking for a film that will showcase your systems abilities, this Terminator will get the job done. GP

    Crazy Taxi (Dreamcast)
Come on, it's a '90s arcade classic on the Dreamcast for Gods sake. A perfect translation of the Arcade great with some extras thrown in for good measure. A must have for your classic Sega gamming rig.

    Madden 09 (Wii)
Being a longtime fan of the 2K series I finally decided to “upgrade” from my copy of ESPN 2K5 (Xbox, and a game I still fnd to be football video game perfection) to something with more recent rosters, not to mention my favorite player of all time appears on the cover and in the only uniform he should have ever worn to boot. Anyways, I have been a longtime basher of the Madden series, I find it to be more arcadey then Sim... akin to an advanced form of the Blitz series. But I decided to give it a shot on the Wii, I am pleasantly surprised with the gameplay aspect of this game so far. The Wii-motion controls really are a lot of fun, the “Call Your Shots” (where you draw way-points on screen for any receiver you wish on passing plays) addition is a major advancement in the way these games are played, and will open the door for some really neat options on the both sides of the ball in future iterations of the series... at least on the Wii. The graphics are about as good as you would find on an Xbox machine, maybe a little better. Players are detailed pretty well and the collision detection is nice. But they do not hold a candle to what you will find on PS3 or the 360. However if you bought a Wii, then you were not as interested in revolutionary graphics as you were in evolutionary gameplay. I have played the 360 and the Wii version of Madden 09, they are both very arcade like when compared to the 2K5 series. But the Wii versions added controls make it a fun and fresh experience, whereas the 360 version seems to be “just another version of Madden with better visuals”. The franchise seems pretty straight forward, which is how I like it, after all who wants to negotiate the price of a hotdog at the stadium? Anyways, don’t let the kiddy packaging drive you away, this is a fun and intuitive football experience. Give it a shot.
