If you really want to baby your spare spools these definitely will do the job. Ordered the size (S) small, they work just fine for my MAGNUMLITE and TX spools up to and including the R3 spools. The R3's are a bit snug but I think that is a good thing. The outside has a hard shell feel, and the inside has a soft feel to it. The price is a little high but you get what you pay for, these are the best reel containers that I've seen
