Road Shower 4 is perfect for camping and the beach
2 of 2 found this helpful I've had a couple weeks to test out my Road Shower 4 and have to say I'm very impressed with its performance. I was previously using a RinseKit which is a 2 gallon portable pressurized sprayer and found it inconvenient as it ran out of pressure very quickly. The Road Shower is a much higher end product and will spray water consistently until the tank has been emptied. I found it very useful for the beach and camping. We hooked it up to a portable fish cleaner while camping last weekend and had a hand and dish washing station which made camping much easier. The shower heats up nicely after a couple hours in the sun, especially on warm days and is perfect after a long surf session in cold San Francisco waters.
A couple things I did differently was remove the provided hose and clips and route a longer rubber hose into my truck bed. Now the hose reaches much longer and looks a bit cleaner but is no longer food grade (I wasn't planning on drinking out of it anyways). I also mounted the kit on the drivers side with the hose fitting towards the rear. I figured this would prevent the tank from hitting low lying branches that my passenger side antenna sometimes snags on.
The Road Shower was a bit tricky to mount at first. Had to figure out how to get my hands in a very small area to hold the washers on while I screwed on the nuts. By the last bolt I more or less had my technique down and it was a bit easier. I say this because it may not be best for frequent mounting & dismounting. Permanent mounting or occasional mounting for an extended camping trip would probably be best.
All and all I am really happy with my purchase. Being a frequent camper and surfer I will get plenty of use out of the Road Shower.
