Unbeaten: The Story of My Brutal Childhood by Kim Woodburn (Paperback, 2006)
    17 May, 2016
    An eye opener.
At times witty, at times heartwarming and at times heartbreaking, this is a no holds bared insight into the background of one of televisions more popular personalities. Anyone who watched Agi and Kim will be shocked by Kim's past, but heartened by her resilience and strength of character that has enabled her to come through all that has been thrown her way. You get the feeling that the past is far from forgotten, despite the upbeat prose of the book, a lot that still needs to be worked out, but it is truthful and honest. You really feel for Kim by the end, but you know that she would not welcome your pity, your understanding is enough.
Who's Who in Roman Britain and Anglo-Saxon England by Richard A. Fletcher...

    A good primer
If you want to know more about the era, the main protagonists and how they interacted, without delving into a full social history of ancient England then you won't go far wrong. A little long winded at times, but historians can be a lot worse. On the whole it is a concise piece, and more importantly holds the readers interest.
